For more than 50 years, the people of Macomb Beautiful Association have shown up, season after season, to plant, tend, and care for the community we all share. We are neighbors, volunteers, and friends united by a simple belief: that a beautiful city is a better city.
Who We Are
The Macomb Beautiful Association (MBA) is a volunteer-driven organization made up of residents who care deeply about the appearance and well-being of their community. Since its founding in 1972, the group has worked tirelessly to enhance public spaces, support beautification efforts, and create lasting improvements throughout the city of Macomb, Illinois.
Over the past five decades, these efforts have included planting thousands of flowers, adding trees and greenery to neighborhoods and public spaces, supporting parks and gathering areas, and contributing to seasonal displays that bring the community together. The organization has also played a meaningful role in honoring individuals through memorial trees, benches, and gardens — creating spaces that carry both beauty and significance.
Through steady commitment and community collaboration, Macomb Beautiful continues to make a lasting impact on the city's landscape and identity. The organization fluctuates between 80 and 100 individual and family memberships and over 100 business members each year, reflecting the broad community support that makes this work possible.
Our History
Macomb Beautiful has a simple but powerful mission: to make Macomb a more beautiful place to live, work, and visit. What began as a small group of dedicated volunteers has grown into one of the city's most active and beloved community organizations.
Over the decades, MBA has expanded its reach and impact significantly. From its early work at the Amtrak Train Station, which is one of the organization's first and most enduring projects, to the creation of the 50th Anniversary Mural, the Living Lincoln Topiary, and the Pollinator Pocket Garden Program, MBA has consistently found new ways to enhance and celebrate the community it serves.
Today, Macomb Beautiful Association is recognized as a vital part of Macomb's civic life, partnering with the City of Macomb, the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Corporation, and the Macomb Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to ensure that Macomb remains a welcoming, vibrant, and beautiful community.

Macomb Beautiful Association is led by a dedicated board of directors and supported by numerous committees that oversee our various projects and programs.
Our committees include groups focused on the Awards Reception, Depot Summer Window Boxes and Flower Beds, Courthouse Flowerbeds, Library Flowerbeds, Post Office Planters, Western Illinois Museum Planters, Chandler Park Maintenance, Tree Project, Pollinator Pocket Gardens, Fundraising Events, and more.
Membership
Macomb Beautiful Association welcomes new members and volunteers to join us in our work to make Macomb a more beautiful place. Membership dues are payable in February each year, and members enjoy the satisfaction of knowing their support directly funds the projects and programs that make our community shine.
